Clownfish Anemone Jigsaw Puzzle

Clownfish Anemone at every size

Par is the time your score is measured against at that size. The rest is measured from the picture itself: how many pieces have a near-twin by colour once it is cut.

What the picture shows

A sea anemone fills most of the frame, its long tan tentacles tipped with pale lilac. Two clownfish shelter in it, orange with white bands edged in black: a larger one left of centre and a smaller one lower right. A round brain coral sits in the top-left corner, and branching corals run along the top. Blue fish and black damselfish with a white spot swim in open water at the top right. On the right a giant clam opens a wavy mantle, dark blue speckled with bright blue. White coral fills the bottom-right corner.

Solving Clownfish Anemone

At 50 pieces about 4 pieces in 10 have a near-twin; the fish, the clam and the brain coral mark their own pieces. At 100 it jumps to about 6 in 10, because an anemone piece is now a few tentacles, all the same tan. After that it climbs slowly, to about 9 in 10 at 1000. Plain pieces hardly exist: even at 1000 only about 4 in 100 are flat, mostly open water.

Start with the two clownfish, then the giant clam along the blue edge of its mantle, and the brain coral in the corner. Place the fish in the open water and the white coral at the bottom right. Build the anemone outward from the clownfish: its tips grow larger toward the bottom left. The branching corals and the rock come last.

Clownfish Anemone has the most look-alikes of the five ocean pictures at 200 pieces, and at 50 only Sea Turtle has more, though there the whole set lies between about 3 and 4 pieces in 10. At 500 pieces it sits in the middle, and at 1000 only Sea Turtle has more. At 1000 it ties with Tide Pool for the fewest plain pieces of the five.
