About PieceBattle

PieceBattle is a jigsaw site that runs in a browser tab. It costs nothing, there is nothing to install, and you can play without making an account.

What you can play

There are 53 pictures in 8 themes, and each one can be cut at 50, 100, 200, 500 or 1000 pieces. A board is saved as you go, so a large one can be finished across several visits. Browse every picture.

A daily puzzle
One picture at one size for everybody, replaced at midnight UTC, with its own ranking for the day. Today's daily.
Ghost races
Play against a time that was already set, yours or one from the leaderboard, shown as a pace beside your own. There is no lobby to wait in. How racing works.
Live rooms
A battle gives each player a copy of the same picture; co-op puts everyone on one board. Both are in beta and need a live connection, so a room may not open.

Scores and Flow

What a board scores
Points for its size, a speed bonus measured against par (the time set for that size, so a faster finish earns more), and a Flow bonus. The server works out the score, not the page in your browser.
What Flow is
Your chain of drops that connect. Each one adds to it and makes the next piece worth more. It ends after three misses in a row, and the time you spend looking for a piece never counts against it.
What Flow pays for
A chain earns charges, at most three held at once, which buy the Hold, Focus and Hint tools. In a live battle, the same charges are spent on the other player instead.
Medals on your wall
Every picture holds one medal per size: bronze for a finish, silver or gold for a high score. A board played on Guided, which outlines where a piece will lock, clears the picture but earns no medal. The rules page covers every control and every tool in detail.

Where the pictures come from

43 of the 53 pictures were generated with OpenAI's image generation. 9 were generated with Google Gemini, and they carry SynthID, the invisible mark Google puts into images its AI makes. The other 1 is a photograph.

What the site stores

Instead of an account, your browser keeps a random identifier for you, and your boards are saved there too. When the server can be reached, finished boards are sent to it for the leaderboard and your collection, with the display name you pick, which the leaderboard shows publicly. Signing in with Google is optional and ties that collection to your Google account. Visits are counted with Google Analytics, which asks first where the law requires it. The privacy page lists everything that is kept and how to switch analytics off.
