Jigsaw Puzzle Race: Beat the Clock

Every board on PieceBattle is timed. Race the clock against par, race your own best run as a ghost, or race a time somebody else set on the leaderboard. No lobby, no download, and nobody else has to be online.

How a race is scored

The clock
It runs while you play and pauses when you leave, so a break never costs you.
Your score
Board size, plus how fast you were against par for that size, plus the chains you built. The server works it out, not your browser.
The chain
Every drop that connects something extends your chain, and a longer chain is worth more per piece. Three drops in a row that connect nothing break it; thinking time does not.
Medals
Bronze for finishing, silver and gold for scoring well. One per picture per size.

Who you race

Your own best
Finish a board and your run is kept. Next time you pick that picture at that size, Race a ghost puts it beside you at its real pace.
A time from the leaderboard
Press Race on any row and that player's pace becomes your ghost, scaled to the size you pick.
Live rooms
Racing a friend on the same picture at the same moment is in beta. If a room will not open, the ghost race works with nobody else there.

Questions people ask

Can I race a friend online?
Yes, against any time they have set: open the leaderboard, pick their row and press Race, and their pace runs beside yours as a ghost. Nobody else needs to be online. Live rooms, where you both play at the same moment, are in beta.
What is par?
The time your score is measured against at each size: about 7 minutes at 50 pieces and about 5½ hours at 1000. Finishing earns bronze; scoring well against par earns silver and gold.
Does the clock stop if I take a break?
Yes. It pauses when you leave the tab or stop playing for a while, and your board is saved, so you pick up where you left off.
