Christmas Market Jigsaw Puzzle

Christmas Market at every size

Par is the time your score is measured against at that size. The rest is measured from the picture itself: how many pieces have a near-twin by colour once it is cut.

What the picture shows

A Christmas market fills a square of half-timbered houses at dusk. The stall on the left is hung with glass baubles and stars, and a woman in a cream bobble hat looks them over. The stall on the right sells big gingerbread hearts piped with icing swirls, red candles and small wooden toys. A carousel with a red-and-white striped canopy turns in the middle, with three lit Christmas trees round the square and a Gothic church at the top right. In the centre a couple holds mugs among a crowd in dark coats, and wet cobbles fill the bottom middle.

Solving Christmas Market

Baubles, gingerbread hearts, wooden toys and the carousel give the market about 5 pieces in 10 with a near-twin at 50 pieces and about 7 in 10 at 100. Its warm gold light is the same on every stall and facade. The crowd's dark coats match as the cut gets finer, and by 1000 pieces about 9 in 10 have a near-twin and about 1 in 9 is plain.

Start with the carousel canopy and its stripes, then the horses below it. Build the three lit trees and the half-timbered houses by their rows of windows, then the church. Place the bauble stall on the left, then the gingerbread hearts and candles on the right. Add the couple with mugs and the woman in the bobble hat. Fill in the crowd next and the wet cobbles last.

Christmas Market is the second easiest Christmas board at 50 pieces, behind Toy Shop Window, at about 5 pieces in 10 with a near-twin. From 100 pieces up it sits on the easier side of the set, fifth easiest at 200 and 500.
