Tropical Lagoon Jigsaw Puzzle

A lagoon village from the air: tin roofs, palms, a jetty and boats over coral shallows. A palm village, a jetty, a dozen boats and a reef where the surf breaks white.

The deep blue channel and the open sea look alike. Channel pieces have turquoise shallows or coral heads at their edges; sea pieces have surf.

What the picture shows

Solving Tropical Lagoon

At 50 pieces none is plain, and the village, the boats and the surf give most pieces a mark of their own. At 100 about 5 pieces in 10 have a near-twin, as the coral heads start to look alike. The open water grows with the cut: by 500 pieces about 1 in 5 is plain, mostly navy sea and the channel, and by 1000 about 9 in 10 have a near-twin.

Start with the jetty and its hut, then the boats around it. Build the village and the palms, and lay the beach down to the bottom-right corner. Follow the surf on the left. Place the wooded island and the ridge along the top. Fill the shallows by depth, pale near the beach and dark in the channel, and finish with the open sea and the clouds.

Tropical Lagoon is the easiest beach picture from 50 to 200 pieces, about 5 pieces in 10 with a near-twin at 100, and shares the lead with Lighthouse Cove at 500. At 1000 Beach Huts and the cove both sort better. At 1000 pieces about 3 lagoon pieces in 10 are plain, the most in the set.
