The yellow, pink and blue house fronts are the brightest colours on the board. Build that terrace first, then the two trawlers below it: blue against the quay wall, red beyond.

What the picture shows

A small harbour at low tide on an overcast morning. A terrace of houses painted white, yellow, pink, blue and cream runs along the quay on the left, under a green, rocky hill. On the quay stand an orange forklift, a grey pickup and stacks of lobster pots. Boats rest on wet mud and seaweed below the wall: a blue wooden trawler, a red trawler beyond it, blue and white boats further out and a red-hulled boat in the right foreground. Solving Fishing Village

Even at 50 pieces about 8 pieces in 10 have a near-twin. Grey sky, grey stone, wet mud and the concrete slipway share one muted range, and only the house fronts, the hulls and the fish boxes break it. Plain pieces stay at about 1 in 7 at 1000, but the busy parts repeat: pot mesh, seaweed and quay stone look the same wherever they are.

Build the painted terrace first, one house colour at a time, then the forklift and the pickup. Next the two trawlers, blue then red. Add the boats further out and the breakwater with its hut. Then the fish boxes, the bollard, the lobster pots and the rope. Sort the mud by its seaweed and the slipway by its bare concrete, and finish with the hills and the sky.

Fishing Village is the hardest of the four beach pictures at every size, at about 9 pieces in 10 with a near-twin by 1000. Even at 50 pieces it has more look-alikes than Lighthouse Cove, about 8 in 10 against 5.
