What the picture shows

A row of wooden beach huts runs from the left edge away along a shingle beach on a bright, breezy day. The nearest, bright blue with peeling paint and a brass padlock, fills the left edge; after it come sage green, white, pale blue and red huts, then smaller green and blue ones into the distance. A weathered bench stands in front of the white hut beside a windbreak striped blue, yellow, green and red. Solving Beach Huts

At 50 pieces about 4 pieces in 10 have a near-twin, because each hut is its own colour. The pebbles across the bottom third are the trap at larger sizes: from 500 pieces up their brown, grey and white mix looks the same everywhere. They are never plain, though, and at 1000 pieces only about 1 piece in 10 is flat colour, mostly sky.

Start with the big blue hut and its padlock, then the green, white, pale blue and red huts in turn. The bench and the windbreak go next, then the two people standing and the dog. Build the sea and the groynes, then the small huts toward the horizon. Place the short sky strip before the shingle, which is last.

Beach Huts is the second easiest beach picture at 50, 100 and 1000 pieces. At 200 it ties with Lighthouse Cove, and at 500 both the cove and Tropical Lagoon pass it, as the shingle starts to repeat. It has the fewest plain pieces of the four from 500 pieces up, because shingle always shows some texture.
