What the picture shows

Tulip fields running to a windmill. The top half is blue sky full of white cloud. Stripes of red, yellow, white, pink and purple tulips run from the left foreground toward a dark windmill right of centre. Beyond it stand a brick farmhouse with a thatched roof and a smoking chimney, a willow, two trees in pink blossom and a canal that reflects them. Solving Tulip Fields

At small sizes the sky is the slow part: about 2 pieces in 10 are plain at 50 pieces, nearly all of them blue or cloud. The stripes are fast at any size because each one is a single colour. As the board gets bigger the stripes help more than the sky hurts, so this picture holds up better at 1000 pieces than most flower boards.

Build the fence first; its rails are the only long level lines in the bottom half. Lean the bicycle on it. Then each tulip stripe in turn, keeping a stripe's colour and its angle together. Next the windmill, the farmhouse and the canal. Sort the sky into clear blue and cloud before you place any of it, and place it last.

Tulip Fields has the most plain pieces in the flower set at every size, most of them in the cloudy sky: about 3 pieces in 10 at 1000 pieces. Its single-colour stripes make up for it, and from 200 pieces up only Cottage Garden has fewer look-alikes.
